Oh yeah, it was a sharp and steep climb for me! I am talking about knowing enough about a subject- in this case, football– in order to describe it and use appropriate descriptive terms to fill in the Title and Description elements in our digital collection. As some of you noticed I vented my frustration a bit via the sweet Tweet. And thanks to Nick and others for responding! I just needed to have some patience and learn a bit about football. Later in the day, after my public ventings, I received a tutorial from my boyfriend, who knows much more about football than I realized because he never watches games (at least not while I am present:). I took full advantage of the resources provided by Dr. MacCall, classmates- Nick, Rachel, and others.
I learned a lot and I am surely a better person, a much better Library & Information Professional, and a way better Metadata Wrangler for this experience! And as the chart implies, the next time I index football images or even just try to join a conversation about football it won’t be a steep ascent:)
